Our beloved Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has finally joined Twitter.
The multiple award-winning and trend-setting writer who had previously taken personal control of her Facebook page in 2016 and joined Instagram in 2017 (enabling commenting in the process) made the much awaited decision to foil the activities of impostors. She has previously notified people that she was not on Twitter, but has finally joined the social network.
An excerpt of the press release released to this effect reads:
“Over the past few months, we have been made aware of individuals posing as representatives of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie via Twitter and trying to extort people by email under the pretext of negotiating speaking fees for Ms. Adichie.”
The account, which opened in October 2018 currently has 4,851 followers as of this post, with just two tweets, both made on 10 January notifying people of its authenticity. In essence, any other account claiming to be Ms. Adichie or have any association with her is not legitimate.
The tweets, include links to her other authentic social media which are listed on her website
