Do you enter a room, remove your shoe and then everybody runs out of the room screaming “WHICH RAT DIE FOR HERE?” Well, this article is for you! Nna, weep no more. Sister, your condition is known as athlete’s foot and you don’t have to be an athlete to get athletes foot. The ailment is caused by several bacteria brought on by dirty water and improper care of the feet.

 

There are many ways you can say bye-bye to that offensive smell without cutting off your feet(Hehehe! Do this at your own risk. Don’t say MystiqueSyn sent you to cut off your legs, biko). Here are 5 simple ways you can eradicate that nasty smell, once and for all!

 

Smear your feet with corn starch every night!

 

Nwanne, the embarrassment is real o. Big boy na big girl adiro kwa here. Smearing your feet with cornstarch might sound ridiculous but you just have to do it.  All you need to do is get some corn starch, put it in a bowl and mix with little water. Heat this on the oven until it thickens but not more than 5 minutes. Allow it to cool then smear it round the soles of your feet. Leave it on for like 5 minutes before you wash off. Do this daily for at least two weeks but if your own foot smell ( athlete’s foot) is worse than ogiri, then do this regiment daily for 1 month.

 

Avoid wearing moist shoes

 

The key is to remember that a warm, moist, environment attracts fungi and bacteria. Go barefoot when you’re not in a moist environment, and if possible when going out wear sandals or open-toed shoes. If you stay in a water clogged area like some parts of Lagos and Abuja, get rubber shoes. This may be difficult to follow when the rains come but try your best. The moment you get home, wash your feet with antiseptic and warm water and then dry.

 

Sprinkle baking soda in your shoes before you wear

 

Baking soda absorbs any moisture you might have in your shoes either through sweat or during floods. Be generous while spraying this because the more you spray, the more water it absorbs. Alternatively, you can sprinkle baking soda…
