Meet The Contestants For FlashLockdown17: El Antonio
The biggest writing competition for writers on social media is here! 30 writers get to battle it out for the grand prize of 120,000 naira and a laptop! This event is hosted by Pryamedia and Syncityng.com is a media partner for this year’s event.
Meet El Antonio:
The Flash: Nice to meet you sir. Apart from wanting to win the cash prize and the laptop, why did you enter for Lockdown?
El Antonio: *clears throat* Well… I tried entering for Blackout last year but didn’t make the cut. I keenly followed the competition last year and the stories were wonderful. The suspense was gripping even for a neutral observer. So for Lockdown, I thought “why not?” Plus, I think the fast-paced nature of the competition will help improve my writing.
The Flash: You are in a difficult group that also has Eketi, N’austin Michael Larry and Hymar. How do you fancy your chances.
El Antonio : Mehnnnn…. Eketi. This lady plays a lot o. But then, she kills for fun too. Hymar. Need I say anything? Michael. N’Austin. I even dread these unknown soldiers more. But then, this is Lockdown. No one came here to play. I honestly hope for more upsets than Blackout gave.
The Flash: Looking at the lineups, who are your favourites to win the lockdown?
El Antonio : Haanu. Emem. Adams
The Flash: Your ideal Lockdown Final match-up would be who against who?
El Antonio : Hannu vs Soogun
The Flash: For you, what’s the difference between writing for a competition and just writing.
El Antonio : Obviously, when writing for a competition, there’s the pressure of writing something better than your opponents. Better than your fellow contestants. But when “just” writing, the only person you have to be better than is yourself.
The Flash: One more question: When did you start writing
El Antonio: Err… ASUU Strike, 2012 (Courtesy Jerry Chi). But I stopped when the strike was called up. Continued mid 2014 sha.
Best of luck!
